Hi there, I’m Kat Farrell, your friendly guide here on the forty-fifth floor.
Apparently this is where I tell you all the ‘interesting’ stuff about me and my blog. So…

I’m an Australian freelance journalist who splits her time living (with her parents) in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, and the Australian city, Melbourne. This year I’m paying the bills by working on a non-fiction book about the history of mining equipment manufacturers. (I know, watch out Ian McEwan, hey?) My last ‘real’ job was as the Entertainment Editor for The Daily News and Tweed/Gold Coast Mail a regional newspaper and magazines in Australia. If you look really hard you may find the odd lifestyle feature floating in a magazine somewhere with my by-line on it, or occasionally, with the aid of a microscope, you’ll spot ‘picture by K. Farrell’ squeezed in the margin next to a photograph.

Fortyfifthfloor was set up to share my experiences, and misadventures, as a young woman exploring a culture adversely different to my own-some of you may call it ‘Reality’. I’m not politically correct, environmentally friendly, or pure of heart. I do however enjoy writing fortyfifthfloor and hope that if you can’t laugh with me, you can at least laugh at me.

Thanks for your attention. The bar is in the living room on the right.
